Step 4: Creating RSS links for your first Podcast channel

Step 4: Copying and Pasting the RSS Link to Your Web Homepage

To Copy and Paste the RSS Link to Your Web Homepage:

Podcasts are delivered to subscribers through an Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed link. RSS is a form of a software that supplies Web Content through a Web Feed, such as podcasts, news Websites, Weblogs (blogs), and other formats through a Web feed, such as an aggregator like itunes. The version of RSS used for our Podcast is “RSS 2.0″. An aggregator is a customized software or program that interprets and displays information from RSS feeds.

The RSS Link is a hyperlink to the XML code that is your podcast channel, containing information about podcast episodes and podcast images. Clicking the Feed XML: RSS 2.0 logo on a Podcast page, displays it’s XML code. The code is the podcast channel and all podcast episodes information entered in the Podcast creation.

  1. Select My Website from the drop-down list at the top of the window. The My Website Home window appears.
  2. Click Podcast. The Podcast window appears.
  3. If the new podcast channel you want to copy and paste the RSS Link is opened , Continue with Step 4.
  4. If the new podcast channel you want to copy and paste the RSS Link is closed, then click the Expand symbol . The Podcast window refreshes with the podcast channel opened displaying the information for that channel. Continue with Step 4.

  5. Select the RSS Link to highlight it.
  6. The RSS feed link URL is: http://www.domain.com/podcasts/channel.rss

  7. Copy the RSS feed link URL and image path to the clipboard or buffer of your computer.
  8. Select My Files from the drop-down list at the top of the window. The My Files Home window appears.
  9. Select All Files. The Directory Properties: All Files window appears.
  10. Select www from the Directory Contents column. The Properties: www window appears.
  11. Select htdocs from the Directory Contents column. The Properties: htdocs window appears.
  12. Place your cursor in the index.html field.
  13. Select Properties. The Properties: index.html and File Editor appears.
  14. Place your cursor in the File Editor field, where you want the RSS 2.0 link and logo to appear.
  15. Press Ctrl+v to paste the RSS link and logo in the File Editor field.
  16. Click Save. A message appears stating the index.html has been edited.
